                                Stage 1Set-up/Stance – Demonstrate a delivery & teach the importance of the stance/set-up

                                Stage 2 Loaded/Park Position - Pull Back/Pull Forward & Slide

                                Stage 3 Line of Delivery   (LOD) Rock Placement - Weight Control (stress the importance)

                                Stage 4 Grip/Turns/Release – Show proper grip (wrist up/fingers together/thumb over handle & Pressure)

 

6:40 – 7:40          Delivery Drills (Grant)

7:40 – 8:10          Drag effect/Angles(Russ) A better understanding of how to play specific shots

8:10 – 8:40          Strategy Basics (Russ) Off-Ice Strategic Situations

8:40 – 9:10          Sweeping – Effective Brushing Technique (Mary-Anne) off-ice slide/presentation & on-ice

9:10 – 9:30          Strategy - Simulated Game 1 end Game Situation with Coaching (7th or 8th end)

9:30 – 9:45         Question and Answer Session (Up Close & Personal with Russ, Mary-Anne & Grant)

 

Saturday - Intermediate Club Curler Clinic

9:00 – 9:10        Welcome/Introductions/Agenda - Importance of warm up (Dynamic Stretches)

11:30 – 12:00     Release Drill with (Weight Control & Ice Reading) (Russ) Explain & demonstrate the difference rotation makes to execution

Competition team Drill: Hit & remove rock from the button (stay in the 4’ get 2 points, stay in the rings get 1 point)

12:00 – 12:30     Strategy Session On-Ice – Play simulated game 1st end situation with “End Plan” strategy and tactics  

12:30 – 1:00       Lunch - Scrape & Prepare Ice

1:00 – 1:45          Sweeping – Effective Brushing Technique (Mary-Anne) slide presentation plus an on-ice session Drill: Sweep up Centre Line

1:45 – 2:30          Drag effect & the Secret to Angles (Russ) How to play specific shots - action and dead turns

2:30 – 3:30          Weight Control - The ability of the curler to throw the appropriate weight for the called shot

Drills -1) Eyes shut comp.  1st shot eyes open second shot eyes closed Draw the rings get 1 point (also shows the natural delivery) 2) Progressive slide drill     3) Progressive draw drill

3:30 – 3:40         Snack Break

3:40 – 4:20          Team Dynamics, Goal Setting, Season Planning (Mary-Anne) (Off-Ice Session)

4:20 – 5:00          Strategy - Simulated Game 1 or 2 end Game Situation with Coaching (7th and or 8th end)

5:00 – 5:30          Question and Answer Session (Up Close & Personal with Russ, Mary-Anne & Grant)
